Wiggins' extraordinary Impressionist paintings were influenced by the work of Childe Hassam and other Old Lyme colony artists. In our example, Morning Gloucester, this influence is clearly evident in his brilliant depiction of a working sloop and a fishing schooner bobbing in the water in the tranquil morning light.
